New Year Celebrations 5772
Dearest Friends,
It's that time of year again to wish you a Shana Tova UMetukah...
Over the past summer I have noticed that I have been honoured to share in the celebration of life events from all different ends of the spectrum, with people in Israel.
It hits me now and again at a wedding, how special I feel to be invited, because these are all new friends, who I have known for a short amount of time. It builds a feeling of family, and connection as you share your special 'kodak' moments with people, for after all, life is about making memories with people that you care about...which makes me ponder...
At the same time is struck me that I must be missing out on the same events with people that I care about in Sydney, (you guys), which makes me a little sad to be removed from the day to day events and milestones that are being achieved by all of you, that I am unfortunately not around to share with you...so I get a little bit homesick, because I so badly still want to know about what is going on, despite the communication that we do have, there is no substitue for just being there....
While we are growing from year to year, and our paths are diverse, I wanted you to know that, I think about this a lot, and the tension that I feel being caught between two places, two lives is real...and hits you at obscure moments, and I catch myself wondering every now and again...how did I even get here? It's so bizarre that I am on a top of a mountain in Israel because don't I belong somewhere on Yarabah Avenue? The distance suddenly becomes tangible.
I hope that the new year brings you all an opportunity to celebrate and it is one of my hopes to share in your celebrations in some form or another....
Blessings, Peace and Love...
Gila xx
